Hanover Police are bringing back a traffic initiative to curb aggressive driving and loud mufflers.
“If your motor vehicle is causing others to turn their heads because of noise levels or windows to rattle as you approach and pass, expect to get stopped by police,” says Hanover Police Chief Chris Knoll.
Project Noisemaker starts today and runs until September 7. Officers will be increasing enforcement efforts throughout this period to address these ongoing concerns.
Vehicle owners are encouraged to fix any modified exhaust systems and refrain from using other devices that increase noise levels.
Police say drivers found in violation are subject to fines of $110 that could lead to a court date for repeat and ongoing violators.
“Ensuring safety on our roads is a fundamental responsibility of the Hanover Police Service and all police services across Ontario,” says Knoll. “Our officers are committed to ensuring the rules of the road are followed and that those found in violation are held accountable.”
