The Municipality of Kincardine and Bruce Power have entered into a new four-year community readiness agreement.
The Infrastructure and Community Readiness Assessment Agreement will provide $2.2 million in funding to support strategic planning and municipal readiness in preparation for the proposed Bruce C expansion project.
The agreement recognizes the importance of coordinated planning with host communities.
Funding will support technical studies, infrastructure assessments, service delivery planning, growth management, and community readiness initiatives.
Part of the assessment will be focused on water and wastewater infrastructure, emergency services, and transportation.
The proposed Bruce C expansion is in the Impact Statement phase of the federal impact assessment process.
The Municipality of Kincardine is working closely with the Town of Saugeen Shores and Bruce County on regional coordination for the work.
In a media release, the municipality said that it expects that the county and Saugeen Shores will be entering similar agreements in the coming weeks.
