The Grey Sauble Conservation Authority is advising residents to remain cautious as elevated water levels continue across the watershed following significant rainfall.
Between 25 and 70 millimetres of rain fell on Sunday, causing rivers and streams to rise. While most larger river systems are expected to remain within normal spring runoff levels, the Sauble River has received between 50 and 70 millimetres of rain and continues to rise, with the potential to exceed typical seasonal levels.
Additional rainfall of 10 to 15 millimetres per day is forecast over the next four days, which could prolong high water conditions and increase the risk of localized flooding in low-lying and poorly drained areas.
Officials say saturated ground conditions are limiting absorption, leading to increased surface runoff and faster responses in smaller watercourses and urban drainage systems.
Residents are urged to exercise caution around all waterways, as fast-moving water, unstable banks, and cold conditions pose serious safety risks.
Grey Sauble staff will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed. The current statement remains in effect until Friday, April 17 at 4:00 p.m., unless updated sooner.
