Brightshores Owen Sound Foundation presented $705,000 for new medical equipment, facility improvements, clinical staff education and research to Brightshores Health
System last week.
The amount represents a portion of annual earnings from the Foundation’s Caring for Tomorrow Endowment Fund.
“Gifts to the Fund come in all shapes and sizes,” says Foundation Director and Investment Committee Chair, Kelly Haefling. “We steward them carefully and it’s exciting to see the
endowment grow and improve patient care year after year.”
The Foundation says donations to the Caring for Tomorrow Fund are invested and the income earned supports the hospital.
Its ‘General and Emerging Needs Endowments’ support high priority medical equipment. In addition, 32 named and special purpose funds have been established.
Since its first $20,000 disbursement to the Hospital back in 1998, the Endowment has now provided more than $9.8 million to Brightshores Health System for equipment, facility improvements and staff training.
The $705,000 will help purchase a Nerve Integrity Monitor used during ENT surgery, a patient warming/cooling unit for Intensive Care, and new transport stretchers for Medical Imaging.
Endowment proceeds will also help expand Brightshores’ data storage network and replace Automated Dispensary Units throughout the Owen Sound Hospital. $14,100 of the total will
assist nurses and clinical staff with continuing education and training.
