An Owen Sound man is facing multiple charges after a traffic stop in the city’s east side early Friday morning.
According to the Owen Sound Police Service, an officer conducting proactive patrol stopped a vehicle in the 700 block of 2nd Avenue East on April 3, 2026.
During the interaction, the 26-year-old driver showed signs of alcohol consumption and was required to provide a breath sample using a roadside screening device, which resulted in a “fail.”
The driver was arrested and transported to the Owen Sound Police station, where he refused to provide additional breath samples to a qualified breath technician. As a result, he was charged with refusal to comply with a breath demand under the Criminal Code of Canada.
In addition to the refusal charge, the accused also faces charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.
Police say the driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
