The Coldest Night of the Year saw a boost in local funds raised this past weekend.
The event in Meaford has seen $28,000 raised which exceeds the goal of $20,000.
Kincardine and Grey Highlands have raised over $40,000 and $18,000 respectively while Saugeen Shores has raised $44,000.
The United Way of Bruce Grey organizes these events and Executive Director Francesca Dobbyn says “the purpose is to raise money for things like hunger, for homelessness, for direct service to people in the community who a really, really struggling”
Meanwhile Owen Sound’s event which benefits Safe & Sound Grey Bruce has raised just over $45,000 or about 76% of this year’s goal.
Even though the walks are done, funds are still being collected through the month of March and anyone interested can make a donation online at cnoy.org.
