Jake Crawford ended a marathon nine-round shootout to lift the Owen Sound Attack to a 5-4 win over the Erie Otters in Ontario Hockey League action Saturday night at Erie Insurance Arena.
He skated in on goal and deked past Noah Erliden in tight, tucking the puck past the right skate of the outstretched Otters’ goaltender to deliver the lone goal from either team in the shootout.

Matthew Koprowski denied all nine Otters’ shooters.
Noah Nelson, Lenny Greenberg, Nick Sykora and Tristan Delisle scored for the Attack (22-29-3-5), which never trailed in the game.
Owen Sound extended its point-streak to four games, and also ended a nine-game slide on the road.
Michael D’Alessio, Ulysses Lombardi, Andrew Kuzma and Callum Hughes scored for Erie (17-34-3-5). The 10th-place Otters lost their fifth straight. And their already slim playoff hopes took another hit, falling 11 points back of the seventh-place Attack and 10 behind eighth-place Saginaw.
Koprowski made 33 saves in the win, while Erliden stopped 19 taking the loss. The Otters outshot the Attack 37-23 while going 2 for 6 on the power play; Owen Sound finished 1 for 3.
The Attack and Otters will close out their season series Sunday afternoon, with the tail-end of this weekend back to back at Erie Insurance Arena. It’s a 4 p.m. start.
