Lucas Moore was the overtime hero as the Oshawa Generals clipped the Owen Sound Attack 3-2 in Ontario Hockey League action Wednesday night at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.
Moore stripped the puck off Attack defenceman John Banks inside the blueline and then went 1-on-1 with goaltender Matthew Koprowski, finishing the game with a beautiful between the legs shot high.
Luke Posthumus and Rowen Sang also scored for Oshawa (15-39-2-1), which earned a season series split with the Attack.
Banks and Harry Nansi scored for the Attack (21-29-3-5), which missed out on picking up back to back wins for the first time since Nov. 30 and Dec. 5, but extended their point streak to three-games.
Nansi’s goal — which extended his point-streak to nine games — came 5:13 into the third. He stole a puck at the blueline and picked it up in front of the Generals net, and then fired a high shot past Jaden Cholette to give Owen Sound its first lead of the game.
It lasted only 1:29. Posthumus tied it 2-2 on the next shift.
It was 0-0 after one. Sang opened the scoring for Oshawa early in the second, before Banks scored to tie it 1-1.
Cholette made 31 saves in the win, while Koprowski stopped 37 taking the loss. The Generals outshot the Attack 40-33 while going 0 for 2 on the power play; Owen Sound finished 1 for 3.
Next up for the Attack is a road trip to Erie to face the Otters Saturday and Sunday.
