A joint investigation is underway after what police describe as a serious motor vehicle collision in downtown Port Elgin on Saturday afternoon.
The crash occurred at the intersection of Gustavus Street and Goderich Street, also known as Highway 21. Multiple vehicles were heavily damaged, and debris covered the roadway while police examined the scene for several hours.
Witnesses reported seeing a man run from the area following the collision.
Police have not confirmed whether the incident is connected to a reported theft in Paisley around the time of the crash in Port Elgin.
Saugeen Shores Police and the Ontario Provincial Police say there is no risk to public safety, and the investigation remains ongoing.
