The Municipality of Meaford has announced the appointment of Dieter Weltz as Chief Building Official, effective February 23, 2026.
Mayor Ross Kentner says the appointment comes at an important time as council focuses on supporting attainable housing, managing continued growth, and maintaining public safety. Kentner adds, “Weltz’s leadership will help ensure building services remain responsive, efficient, and aligned with community needs”.
Weltz brings more than 20 years of experience in the building sector, including 13 years as a Municipal Building Official and nine years serving as a Chief Building Official. He is certified as a Building Code Official through the Ontario Building Officials Association and holds a Red Seal Carpenter designation.
Chief Administrative Officer Shawn Everitt says Weltz’s extensive knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and municipal oversight will play a vital role in supporting development and strengthening building services in the community.
Weltz says he looks forward to building strong relationships with local builders, contractors, developers, and residents while delivering professional and streamlined services that ensure compliance with provincial standards.
