Grey Bruce OPP have charged a 73-year-old Mariposa resident following an impaired driving investigation in the Municipality of Meaford.
Police say officers were dispatched at approximately 1:31 p.m. on February 10th to a report of a vehicle parked on the shoulder of Highway 26 at the intersection of 6th Concession.
The initial call indicated a person in the vehicle may have required medical attention but was refusing assistance.
After speaking with the driver, officers initiated an impaired driving investigation.
Ron Fretz, 73, has been charged under the Criminal Code with Impaired Operation – Alcohol and Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus).
Police issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and impounded the vehicle for seven days.
Fretz was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on March 19, 2026.
