There’s an upcoming live fire exercise set to be held at the military base in Meaford.
Soldiers from 11th Field Artillery Regiment of the Royal Canadian Artillery will be conducting exercises at the 4th Canadian Division Training Centre (4CDTC) in Meaford on Saturday, February 7th.
Noise from ranges at the training centre may be heard between 7:30 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. on those days.
Residents may notice a succession of loud noises during this time Noise may be heard from weapons and large-calibre guns firing simultaneously. This exercise is purely for training purposes and at no time will public safety or security at risk.
The Commanding Officer of the 4th Canadian Division Training Centre is thanking the community for its support, saying without it, “Military members would not be able to accomplish their mission,” adding, “Local communities provide key supports and services to military members that are necessary and appreciated. Activities on base occasionally impact the local area. While this may be unavoidable at times, 4 CDTC appreciates the understanding of local residents and does not underestimate his very important reciprocal relationship.”
