Senior members of the Owen Sound Army Cadets will stand in vigil at the Cenotaph on the eve of Remembrance Day next week.
Commanding Officer of the Owen Sound Army Cadets Captain Krista Linthorne says about eight to 10 cadets will be stationed at the Owen Sound Cenotaph on 1st Avenue West from 6 p.m. to about 9 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 10, as a tribute to the men and women who have served and sacrificed for Canada.
The cadets will rotate in pairs, and maintain a silent watch over the Cenotaph.
“Community members are encouraged to visit, reflect and pay respects,” Linthorne says. “This tradition has been occurring in other townships and cities, and we’re hoping to do it annually in Owen Sound.”
In addition to the vigil on Monday, Linthorne says local army cadets will be taking part in the Owen Sound Remembrance Day parade and be present at the public service on Tuesday, Nov. 11.
