Bruce County’s commissioner has been recognized for her work by the Ontario Professional Planners Institute.
Claire Dodds, who is the Commissioner of Community Development, has been named a PlanON 2025 Regional Professional Planners (RPP) Leadership Award winner.
The awards are given to members of the Ontario Provincial Planning Institute who demonstrate professional excellence and a commitment to advancing the planning profession across the province, particularly for those who “exemplify the qualities of leadership, collaboration, and professionalism, while also empowering others.
“These qualities are certainly reflective of how we’ve seen Claire lead the complex, large-scale initiatives she and her team tackle for us here in Bruce County,” said Warden Luke Charbonneau during Thursday’s county council meeting.
Since joining Bruce County in 2022, Dodds has led the coordinated and strategic approach to a wide range of community initiatives. Her role as Commissioner of Community Development puts the skills which the award recognizes to use to address emerging challenges and opportunities across Bruce County, including energy infrastructure investments, housing, environmental issues and transportation options.
“From housing initiatives, to advocacy work, rural transportation advancement, through to supporting the growth of the energy and medical isotope sectors, Claire’s focused leadership is helping the Community Development Office achieve positive outcomes,” added Charbonneau
Dodds expressed gratitude for the award, adding, “It’s a privilege to lead the teams focused on delivering positive outcomes through the Community Development Office.”
The award recipients were announced on September 18th, when the OPPI hosted the PlanON Awards.
