The Township of Georgian Bluffs is helping residents get to know their local farms with a new tour.
The Farm Crawl on Aug. 23 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. is a self-guided, family-friendly tour, which offers a behind the scenes look at the local agricultural community.
The participating farms include:
-Bluewater Lavender Farm at 441016 Elm Street. This family-run farm grows five varieties of lavender and offers lavender products.
-Farm on the Lake at 170404 Centre Road. Attendees can meet, pet and feed goats as well as purchase souvenirs.
-G.R.A.C.E. Riding at 223047 Grey Road 17B. It offers therapeutic horseback riding programs for youth and adults with physical, mental and emotional challenges.
-Snowy Creek Bison at 259105 Sarawak Keppel Townline. Attendees can see grass-fed, pasture-raised bison and purchase bison meat.
-The Candle Barn at 62681 Sunny Valley Road. This barn creates hand-poured candles and home decor, as well as homemade fudge.
-Barn on the Bluffs at 178841 Grey Road 17. It offers fresh vegetables, flowers, baking, and eggs.
-Outrange Homestead at 298498 Range Road. It is stocked with homemade preserves, jams, baked goods, frozen pies, and more.
The township has an interactive Farm Crawl map and passport for people to explore these local farms at their own pace.
Anyone who visits at least three locations can enter to with a prize filled with local goods. The map can be found on the township website here.
