There’s a military author talk at the 4th Canadian Division Training Centre (4CDTC) in Meaford this weekend.
Canadian military historian Tim Cook will be giving an author talk at the mess hall in the local military base.
It’s an event being organized by the Meaford Public Library and the 4CTDTC.
“We’re very excited to be able to work with the 4th Canadian Division Training Centre and be able to bring Dr. Tim Cook to Meaford for this fantastic, very Canadian event,” says Meaford Public Library Community Outreach Coordinator Amy Solecki.
Cook is the Chief Historian and Director of Research at the Canadian War Museum.
Solecki says he’ll discuss his book The Good Allies, which is about the turbulent relationship between Canada and the United States during the Second World War.
“He will be there to speak to the audience as well as sign copies of his book,” says Solecki.
The event is set for August 9th at 7p.m. Tickets are $10 (cash only) and are available at the Meaford Public Library. If there are some left over there may be tickets at the door. It will be a roughly 45 minute talk with questions afterwards. Drinks will also be available for purchase
You can also buy copies of The Good Allies at the event, courtesy of Jessica’s Book Nook, and Cook will be signing some books as well.
“Tickets have been going very fast the last week or so,” says Solecki.
She adds, “We welcome everyone because this is a great opportunity to see a little bit of the 4th Canadian Division Training Centre and experience the great military history that I know we have here in Meaford and learn more about Canadian history.”
