The tallship ‘Fair Jeanne’ is in Port Elgin and it’s offering deck tours this coming weekend.
It will be in the harbour until August 13th and free deck tours will be offered Saturday, August 9th, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The Town says, “Fair Jeanne” is a 110-foot brigantine, originally built as a private yacht by Captain Thomas G. Fuller in his Ottawa backyard between 1978 and 1982. The Town says it was named after his wife, Jeanne. It was originally used as the family’s private yacht for ocean sailing.
The ship is now a sail training vessel for the youth charity Bytown Brigantine Inc. It teaches youth to operate its ships, chart courses, haul lines and more.
