Grey County’s regional transit service is going to be free to ride on weekends this summer.
The county announced fare free rides will begin on Grey Transit Route on Saturdays and Sundays starting this weekend (May 20) until Sept. 3, the Labour Day long weekend.
“We’re excited to be able to offer fare free weekends this summer,” says Grey County Community Transportation Manager Stephanie Stewart. “With so many summer events, festivals, and activities in our communities, this provides a great opportunity for our residents to explore in their own backyard.”
Grey Transit Route offers service along Highways 6, 10 and 26, between Owen Sound and Dundalk, The Blue Mountains and Wiarton. There are several stops along the routes.
There is also a summer service to Sauble Beach starting this Saturday.
A statement from the county says Grey Transit Route accepts walk-on passengers, but booking a ride in advance is advised to ensure a seat.
