Grey Bruce Public Health heard the Draft Budget Plan for 2023.
During the presentation given during Friday’s board of health meeting, they were informed that spending for this year will be $17.8 million, which is actually 9.28% less than last year’s budget.
A majority of that spending, 77%, is earmarked for employee salaries and benefits.
The organization was able to make some assumptions while the draft budget was being made that saved money.
This includes the province’s Ministry of Health continuing to provide 70% of funding for jointly funded programs.
It was also noted that there would be opportunities to request funding from the province, namely for further support for COVID-19 care and the COVID vaccination program, which alone would mean $1.24 million provided by the Ontario government.
They’re also planning to request funding from the province for another dental chair for the Wiarton Clinic, and a new vaccine storage fridge.
