The Grey Bruce region is seeing the birth of the first babies of 2023.
The first baby born across regional hospitals came from Hanover just before 1 a.m. on New Year’s day.
Johanna Bosse and Jordan Aljoe, along with big sister Ellie welcomed thier baby girl Piper, weighing 7.7 pounds.
Grey Bruce Health Services welcomed its first baby of the new year in Owen Sound.
Dominic Critch was born to parents Katherine and Ryan Critch of Owen Sound on Jan. 1 at 10:05 p.m., weighing about 8.5 pounds.
Katherine says Dominic is her second child after having a three-year-old daughter.
“She is very excited to be a big sister, she has been looking forward to this for a while,” says Katherine.
Katherine thanks her doctors, as well as the labour and delivery nurses and staff at the hospital.
Meanwhile the South Bruce Grey Health Centre welcomed their first babies on New Year’s Day at the Walkerton site.
Mark Pollock and Meagan Keffer of Kincardine gave birth to their girl, Rhys Ashley Pollock on Jan. 1 at 3 p.m., weighing 7.6 pounds.
Pollock says Rhys is their third child.
“It’s exciting, her brothers and sister are happy,” says Pollock.
Kendall Andi Walsh was born to parents Briana Lambertus and Andrew Walsh of Walkerton a short time later at the same site on Jan. 1 at 4:40 p.m., weighing 6.11 pounds.
Briana says she is a first-time parent and is feeling good.
“We are excited, lot’s of big changes coming,” says Briana.
