An inspection conducted by the Owen Sound Fire Department at a downtown apartment building Monday resulted in the discovery of a suspected meth lab.
Owen Sound Police say they were notified of the discovery at 1043 3rd Avenue East and a search warrant was obtained to further investigate.
City Police say several items were located and seized, including glassware, chemicals and powder-like substances indicative of small-scale methamphetamine production.
Police say the two-unit apartment building was evacuated for a short period yesterday until it was deemed safe for occupants to return.
The operation was dismantled and associated equipment was removed by police officers.
Owen Sound Police say they are awaiting an analysis of the seized substances by Health Canada before making a determination on potential criminal charges.
