Grey Bruce OPP say it was a collision that caused the big power outage affecting over 6,000 homes and businesses on the Bruce Peninsula Wednesday.
They say at about 4:30 that afternoon a pickup went off the road on Highway 6, north of Hidden Valley Road in the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula.
It hit a hydro pole.
OPP say the driver who was the lone occupant of the vehicle sustained minor injuries.
A 74-year-old Northern Bruce Peninsula resident has been charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act.
OPP say part of the reason for the outage was that hydro crews attended the scene and shut off power to conduct necessary repairs to the damaged utility infrastructure.
